RECAP:
The aim of the #astarmadebyyou project was to see if we could take a talented, but relatively unknown person and through the power of social media - make them a Music Star.
To do that we needed a willing subject and that was our beautiful "Ginny Vee". Young, talented, exciting and eager.
We took Ginny and we've been getting feedback from friends, strangers, old fans and new fans. Taking that feedback and working with Ginny on looks - style - feel and sound.
In early 2014 we took 4 promising songs from a long list of potentials - that we felt captured the essence of Ginny Vee - and with Studio Plan B - and Roberto Cola - we started to lay down the tracks.
The result is the stunning E.P. called "Heaven n Back". Both the title of the EP and the tittle of the Debut single - which we decided to release on May Day.
Got Social:
So far we have been in a major preparation mode- getting content established on most social media sites. The central cite is FACEBOOK with the page www.facebook.com/ginnyveeofficialThis is the "hub" of the social media - and through this with some advertising and a lot of social interaction across Facebook (maybe annoying some of you) we have created a steady flow o Facebook followers. We have climbed to nearly 9000 fans in less than 3 months - which is good but far short of what we expect in the coming months as we ramp up advertising and social campaigns to bring in new followers.
We have been slowly gaining Twitter followers (not an easy bunch to please) and Instagram - which seems to be the growing trend for teens. We added tumblr, keek, pinterest, and a ton of other social media links and sites. All of which can easily be searched using the hashtags #ginnyvee #astarmadebyyou - so if you use one of these then please go there.
So far we have gained nearly 11,000 fans across the various social media platform and we have a lofty goal of 30,000 by the summer. But it won't happen on its own - we need your social help. We want you to share this page, Facebook, twitter or Instagram to at least 5 friends and ask them to do the same. This will really help boos the campaign. Shares really help - we see boosts when that happens - so your voice counts.
Feedback:
One of the MOST important aspects of the #astarmadebyyou concept is that the FANS are in control of the STAR. And this has been truly breakthrough. We have had feedback through likes, comments, direct mails, requests and the all important SURVEY we did (PLEASE DO IT HERE).
We found out some amazing stuff:
People prefer Pics of Ginny Vee than anything else
People like Nails - colorful nails
They don't like "trashy" images for a music star
The #1 important thing for a music artist (surprise surprise) is the quality of the voice
People expect a POP MUSIC sound from Ginny with references to (Madonna, Katy Perry and Rihanna) coming very strong.
We have sent out Pre-release versions of the song Heaven n Back to various producers, music critics and review sites- and it got ranked as a VERY high quality piece with major commercial appeal.
We've posted a few reviews but we have lots - and most (not everyone) is absolutely raving about both he song and importantly Ginny Vee's voice. So we think we have this part right.
We have taken feedback on wardrobe and style - image and hair - makeup and shoes. All of which will become very visible on May 1st with the world-wide release of the first Music Video "Heaven n Back" shot by Gianluca Della Monica (of Revolution Club fame) and Max Palmieri (A stunning photographer featured in VOGUE Italia).
The music has been key. In 2013 we put out on YOUTUBE some very very early drafts of Ginny's Music under a different artist name to get feedback. What came out strongest were the songs that we felt were closest to the Style of Madonna in the late 80's early 90's. Based on that we searched out an expert in the sound of the 80's & 90's - a huge Trevor Horn fan -- Roberto Cola. And we have been thrilled by the sounds he has created. Deep complex music that is rooted in the 1980's but lives in 2014. using original 1980's synthesizers he has created an authentic sound right from the past - and the combination of this with modern techniques has created a wonderful new sound.
Help:
Help has come in many shapes an forms - as it's not an easy task and it requires a team. From web designers to Logo designers (Thanks Perry Dezynez) for this stunning GV logo.
It captures everything we think about Ginny Vee - "Bold, yet elegant, classic but modern, simple yet striking."
We have assembled a large team of directors, photographers, make-up artists, designers, stylists, music production, mastering and so much more in 3 short months. But more is yet to come as we start the campaign in ernest on MAY DAY.
But we need YOUR help - we need your input - your suggestions - designs - ideas.
We were given strong feedback on the old Ginny Vee website-- so we made radical changes. Now it looks just how those fans wanted it. Everything from january to May 1st is all just - behind the scenes Pre-Work - ready for the start on May 1st. On May 1st you will see a massive social media campaign that will thrust Ginny Vee into the spotlight. All focused around the super secret "Heaven n Back" Video which will be launched on VEVO with a huge splash. We have press interviews lined up and massive Facebook and Instagram campaigns lined up ready to go - besides video campaigns and a whole host of amazing activity.
